Ok Tedi Mining Limited
Ok Tedi Mining Limited (OTML) is a State-owned company that operates an open-pit copper, gold and silver mine located in the Star Mountains of Western Province, Papua New Guinea (PNG). The company holds a large portfolio of exploration leases in the vicinity of its Mt Fubilan mining operations and is actively undertaking near mine exploration. The company's registered office is located in Tabubil, Western Province, PNG. It also has a representative office in Port Moresby, PNG and a marketing and logistics facility in Brisbane, Australia.
Lihir PNG | Newcrest Mining Limited
The Lihir operation on Aniolam Island in the New Ireland Province of Papua New Guinea (PNG), 900 kilometres north-east of Port Moresby, is 100 per cent owned and operated by Lihir Gold Limited (LGL). Newcrest acquired the Lihir operation as a result of the merger with LGL by court-approved scheme of arrangement in August 2010. The gold deposit at Lihir is within the Luise Caldera, an extinct volcanic crater that is geothermally active, and is one of the largest known gold deposits in the world. Most of the ore is refractory and is treated using pressure oxidation before the gold is recovered by a conventional leach process. Lihir produces gold doré.
Porgera Joint Venture
The Porgera Gold Mine is located in the Enga Province of Papua New Guinea at an altitude of 2,200 – 2,700 meters. It is 130 kilometers west of Mt Hagen and 600 kilometers northwest of the capital Port Moresby. The Porgera Joint Venture (PJV) owns the Porgera Mine which is operated by Barrick (Niugini) Limited ("BNL") on behalf of the JV partners.
Port Moresby Technical Institute
Port Moresby Technical College is one of the two biggest Government Agency technical colleges in Papua New Guinea. The college was established in 1947 as a Technical Training Centre. Today Port Moresby Technical College is one of the eight technical colleges in the country specializing in ten trade areas. In the 1980's the main course program offering was the Pre-Employment Technical Training (PETT) Certificate Course. Then in the 1990's the Technical Training Certificate (TTC) course was introduced to replace the PETT Course.
